el-kokoro Learning Program for Health Education of Heart and Body

by Mitsuo Tsukamoto last modified 2007-09-04 18:12

Abstract of this program

A word Kokoro means "heart" in Japanese language. A word el means the shortening of "e-learning" and "get" in Japanese language, and also the definite article in Spanish language. Therefore, el-kokoro learning program has 3 meanings: 1) the e-learning for heart, 2) the learning program for getting heart, 3) the learning program for heart.

el-kokoro learning program has blended leaning, dual mode role-playing, e-portfolio and e-learning. The dual mode role-playing is a new type role-playing which has a mixture of local and remote learning for role-playing in this program, which has remote controlled video-cameras, microphones and other electric devices in the simulated health consultation activity room in grade 1-9 school.

Both of the local role-playing and the remote role-playing are a person to a person role-playing. The local role-playing, however, is conventional type learning which is role-playing in the same room. The remote role-playing, on the other hand, is radically new type learning in the form of monitoring the others role-playings in another room – simulated health consultation activity room. The remote role-playing system has the effect of objective observation that a person monitors the others and also own play by a saving movie.

The university students play roles of a school teacher or a student of grade 1-9. The target of this role-playing is a health consultation activity for the communication. The university students learn the skill of human relations, and the acquirement of knowledge and simulated experience for the affectivity from the verbal or nonverbal signal of the others.

Finally, this program is adopted by Gendai-GP (Good Practice of supporting program for the modernistic education needs) project of MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) in Japan.
